Foods

Forgot to mention in the other posts that Hadley has been eating pretty well. She so far likes squash and sweet potatoes. She loves carrots and today she had green beans for the first time and she liked them. The first time I gave her carrots, she was making sounds between bites that she wanted more and she dove at the spoon!!

We had our first baby making food extravaganza on Saturday night. We went out and bought a steaming pot -- which is awesome by the way if you don't have one!! And we got sweet potatoes. We now have a bunch of pureed sweet potatoes in the freezer for Hadley for 2 months!! Well that is how long it can be in the freezer anyways...we'll see how long it lasts us. Next we'll have to get carrots -- she can't have homemade carrots until after 7 months. But we can do green beans! This week I'll try some fruits too, wanted to be sure she liked/ate veggies before we added some fruit.  We'll see what she likes and then make our own fruit for her.

Videos and Pics

You can see with this one...she listens well! LOL

More funny pics and sitting up

Here are some pictures of Hadley sitting up and some more with that same outfit on.....with her shirt on her head...couldn't resist again...it's to cute!!!  She is sitting up pretty good....she'll still fall over a little bit but that's to be expected.  She is still rocking on her hands and knees and she also goes up on her hands and toes.  I think she'll be crawling pretty soon....we have to get started on baby proofing the house more!!!

Hadley's 6 month appointment

Hadley had her 6 month check-up on Tuesday the 17th.  She is going great.  Her stats:

Height:  26 1/4 inches
Weight:  16 lbs 13 oz

She is just above the 50th percentile for height and weight and she is in the 90th percentile for her head circumference!!!  Guess she has a big brain!!!!

She had to have her 3 shots -- her vaccinations that she had the last 2 times.  But since she is now six months we are able to give her the flu shot and H1N1 shot too...so she had to have 5 shots!!!  Poor lil peanut!!  She cried of course but did pretty good.  The doc gave her a prescription for flouride drops which also has other vitamins in it too.  When we got home she was great....but in the afternoon she was cranky and wanted to be held.  She ended up falling asleep on me in the lazy boy....and it was nice to have her cuddle again!!  She'll have to go back in a month for the booster shot for both of the flu shots.

Here are a couple of pics of her band aids and her asleep on me.

Deer hunting

Friday the 13th we left for our annual west river deer hunting outing to Gregory County with the Graeb's.  This was our 3rd year going down and hunting with them on some private land that they started hunting on a couple years prior.  This year Geno and I had to hunt apart since we had to take time watching Hadley.  It was different for me b/c I'm used to hunting with him when I go.  The first morning I hunted with Steph and we saw a lot of buck activity but nothing to shoot at.  They were in the rut that's for sure....chasing does.  Brian got a nice mule deer buck - 4x5 on Saturday morning.  That was the only deer the first day - Geno only saw one small buck that almost ran him over that evening.  The next morning (Sunday) Geno went out in the morning and got a 4x5 whitetail buck!  That evening I saw a nice whitetail buck that was moving so fast on a mission that I didn't have a shot at it and that was the only one I saw besides a doe.  Steph got a buck that Brian had called in 3 separate times with the can call....the third time it came in she decided to shoot it since it was a nice story and that he had called it in.  The next morning I went out again since I hadn't gotten anything yet and Geno had his buck. I had seen a small buck chasing a doe and that was all I saw all morning.  Brian had gotten a doe....he was hunting up the hill from where I was sitting and I heard him shoot and take the doe on the game cart back to the truck.  In the last hour of hunting....I was losing hope.  Then finally two deer jumped over the fence about 220 yards up the hill and went into some thicker brush/trees.  Then one came out walking across that hill and I said to myself if it gives me a good shot...I'm going to shoot it.  Well it did...I thought it was a doe but when we found it it ended up being a buck with it's antlers broken off.  It probably would have been a small 3x3 or so - we got the rangefinder out and my shot was at about 120 yards.  At least we got two deer to fill the freezer!  Here are some pics from hunting.

Yes...that is Hadley's exersaucer on top of the deer, but we didn't have much room as you can see -- next time we may need a trailer (It's a good thing we didn't get 4 deer!!!)  Everything was washed when we got home.
