Got up on the morning of Monday, June 27th at 4:30am and had to be at the hospital by 5am for my scheduled c-section. They started my IV and got some fluids in me right away and did more paperwork and they came and got me at about 7am. The c-section started about 7:30am and soon after we met our 2nd daughter at 7:41am - Brinley Alma Adams!!
Her stats:
Weight: 8lbs 11oz
Length: 20 inches
Head: 14 inches
Length: 20 inches
Head: 14 inches
Chest: 13 inches
She was bigger than I thought but then again....take a look at my picture from the morning of before we left for the hospital...I knew I was bigger with this one...afterall I did get stretch marks this time :( Oh well....she is worth it!!! :)
The c-section went well, no complications. After they stitched me back up I was in recovery for about an hour and was itchy. Much more itchy this time than with Hadley - due to the medication from the spinal block etc. So they gave me benedryl/nubain to help with that. The benedryl made me very sleepy/groggy but that went away after a few hours. It was much easier this time knowing what to expect and not having labored before the c-section and also now that we are veteran parents and didn't have the "unknown" on our minds since we had been through it with Hadley. While I was in recovery, Geno got to be with her when they did her bath, stats, etc. And he got some good pictures of her too.
In our room awaiting c-section baby arrival...
There she is...it's a girl!
After I came back from recovery, my parents and big sister Hadley were anxious to come meet Brinley. They came up to the hospital after 10am and Hadley was a great big sister right off the bat. Meanwhile, Geno's parents, sister and our nieces were on their way from Iowa to meet Brinley. Here are some pictures from Hadley and Brinley's first meeting, as well as Grandma and Grandpa LaSchum.
Afternoon visit...
